My dear, if you take life itself from someone, they call you a murderer. Maybe you get caught, maybe not; you might not get caught and still regret it, and it's also possible you feel no regret at all when they execute you. My dear, you haven't killed anyone, at least no body has been found yet. You haven't committed a crime. You just did a bad thing, my dear.

If you don't go to a party you were insistently invited to, the host thinks all sorts of things, but if you go and leave very soon, he thinks only one thing. Either way he's hurt, but in the second case you've done a bad thing, my dear.

If you pocketed some money at the company and cooked the books, be very careful, my dear, because embezzlement is a serious crime. But if you took the good days of a love and left, there's no prosecution for that. Don't worry, you just did a bad thing, my dear.

If you don't open the door to someone running from the police, no one will blame you, but if you did open the door, you'd better not open the door to the police anymore, my dear. And if you do, don't worry; you haven't committed a crime, you just did a bad thing.

If you do severe physical harm to someone you don't know at all, enough to cut them off from society, be careful: acid attacks and knife attacks carry very harsh punishments. But if you do something to someone very close to you that leaves them lonely and withdrawn, you just did a bad thing.

No body has been found, but,

you did a bad thing, my dear.
